The importance of understanding and utilising Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) keywords to expand and market your business has never been higher.

This is due to the skyrocketing percentage of people using the internet as their only tool when searching for goods and services.

Here are a few techniques you can use when building your SEO strategy that will help you start off on solid footing.

Long-Tail Phrases Work Better Than Keywords
If, for example, you ran a small pizza business in, let’s say, Treasures Cove, you may be tempted to simply use simple, generic keywords to optimise your website. Instead, use full-length phrases that people may use to look for you.

Instead of just "pizza in Treasures Cove," write "Where do I get pizza in Treasures Cove?" or "Best Pizza in Treasures Cove." Take it a step further by including these long-tail phrases in headings of your website and even in the website URL. You'll be shocked to see how quickly this will garner traffic.

Make Your Business Name An SEO
Preparing your business to handle brand recognition it its early stages of growth is a fantastic practice that you shouldn't forget when formulating your SEO strategy. Long with keywords and long-tail phrases, put your actual business name in as another SEO keyword.

As your reputation and customer base grow, this strategy pays off by tying your business name to the product or service that you provide.

Integrate Social Media
If you are looking into the use of SEO keywords to enhance your business's online presence, you're already aware of how important that presence can be. An easy and effective way to exponentially expand your business's accessibility on the internet is to use SEO's hand in hand with social media like Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest.

Don't forget that all of these social media profiles need to use the name of your company - this ties back into making your business name an SEO of its own.

As you craft your SEO strategy, remember that a key to getting it right is to think in the long-term. Rome was not built in a day, nor was it built without trial and error.

Focus on building a solid foundation in the beginning and use continuing market research to adapt and tweak your online business presence.
